The philosophy

You can't teach what you haven't done.

What I do

I help first-time buyers, growing families, sellers, and investors across Indianapolis. I also own and manage 12 rental units, so you get an agent who underwrites like an owner, not a salesperson.

How I got here

I came up in a classroom.

For four years I taught in inner-city Indianapolis schools. Long days, hard problems, kids who needed someone patient. I loved the work. The paycheck was $40,000 a year, and no matter how well I taught, that number was not going to change much.

Teaching gave me the one skill I still use every day: taking something complicated and intimidating and walking a person through it, one step at a time. I didn't know it yet, but that was real estate training.

The first deal

So I made a plan I could afford.

My first deal was a house-hack on Indy's east side: I bought a house, lived in part of it, and rented out the rest. My housing cost dropped, my savings grew, and I was suddenly a landlord learning on the job.

It was not glamorous. It was tenants, repairs, spreadsheets, and a lot of questions I had to answer for myself. But the math worked, and something bigger clicked: if a teacher can do this, it is teachable.

The playbook

Then I did it again. On purpose.

One deal became two. Two became a system. I kept my habits boring on purpose: live below my means, buy right, manage well, repeat. Over time that teaching salary turned into a portfolio worth around $2 million, and today I own and manage 12 residential and short-term rental units across Indy.

Along the way I earned my broker's license and co-founded Roots Realty Co. Our team has sold more than 235 properties together, and the investors I work with average a 19 percent annual return.

None of that came from a secret. It came from a process, repeated. That is the part I can hand to you.

What I stand for

I never stopped being a teacher.

The subject changed; the job did not. Meet people where they are, explain the hard parts plainly, and walk through it together. These are the habits behind that.

Faith

The humility to trust a process, and a power greater than yourself.

Fitness

Mental and physical. It keeps me sharp and useful to the people I serve.

Consistency

Boring habits, repeated, beat flashy moves. It holds in the gym and in real estate.

Ownership

I own what I sell, so I have done what I am advising you on.

Tyler Lingle

Your trusted real estate partner.

Tyler and Amanda were great to work with in my search for a property in Indy. They were responsive and very knowledgable of the downtown and surrounding markets. Tyler has experience with multi-family units and rentals, and was direct and honest with his analysis of properties and locations. Same with Amanda. They were both receptive and supporting during my inspection responses involving considerable seller credit requests. They were always open to considering multiple options and finding solutions for anything that popped up through the process! Would definitely recommend!

Rooted here

This is home for me, too.

I'm married to my favorite person, and most weekends you'll find us on the water, traveling when we can, or somewhere in Indy with the Roots crew.

Two things keep me steady: faith and fitness. Faith, to me, is the humility to trust a power other than yourself, and to trust a process. Fitness, mental and physical, keeps me sharp and useful to the people around me. Consistent habits lead to better outcomes. That holds in the gym, and it holds in real estate.

And Indy is home. I taught here, bought my first house here, and built a business here. I'm not selling this city from the outside.
